Synopsis: Anala Geil has finally fulfilled her destiny to become the Leader of the Society of Hunters – 600 years AFTER she thought all Cursed Ones were gone. So far; she is a Cursed Hunter, has fallen in love with a fellow Hunter, had another Hunter turned, and lost Thomas - the one she had feelings for so long ago. She’s doing great.

The challenges that Ana and her Hunters must face now will either tear them apart, or bring them closer. But what will Ana do when she is forced to make the most difficult decisions of her long life?

Will she be able to hold on to the humanity she feels is perilously close to shattering?

My Thoughts: Another incredible ending by Jourdyn Kelly!! I just love this series, the author does such a great job keeping you constantly entertained and on your toes. This book becomes an emotional roller coaster with its ups and downs; including death of loved ones and lots of close calls. Sam and Anala are amazing together, I can't get enough of their smokey chemistry. Sam is always there for Anala and the struggles she continues to have to go through but also knows when to give her the space she needs. The little group of hunters is joined by a new character, Sara, who has a hard time adjusting as the outsider.

At the end of Destined to Kill I wasn't sure how Zach would handle the knew change of being cursed. Throughout the book he constantly struggles with his humanity while Anala does what she can to help. Still on the hunt for Thomas, the cursed from Anala's past who turned Zach and many others, the gang runs into constant trouble.

I cannot wait to see what happens next for Anala and the gang after traveling all the way to England. The group discovered similar killings all over the world that lead them to believe there must be more cursed, vampires, and if there are cursed there are hunters. For the first time in 600 years Anala returns to her home land in search of answers and discovers much more than she expected. Thank goodness I don't need to wait to see what happens next!! Destined to Meet released this October and is currently on my kindle waiting to be read. Such an entertaining fantasy read!

Review: Destined to Kill by Jourdyn Kelly

Destined to Kill
by Jourdyn Kelly
Publication Date: May 21st, 2013
Genre: Young Adult Paranormal

Synopsis: Immortality. Humans would sell their soul for it. Immortals would steal souls to keep it. Infinite life is too seductive and powerful to resist. But, immortality is more like a bad drug habit than a gift. Immortals can't give it up because after living for so long, they don't know how to face death. You see, living forever isn't all it's cracked up to be. Sure, you have your pros, but it's the cons that can make an Immortal wish for a death that will never come.

Anala Geil is a Hunter. She is bound by the rules of the Society. The rules are few, but they are strong. What happens when circumstances force her to break them all?

My Thoughts: Such a great plot, it grabbed me from the very beginning!!  Anala grows up in a society who hunt "cursed", or vampires, and after an unexpected accident she is left changed forever. After 600 years without vampires, except for Anala, a new group begins to form out of nowhere leaving Anala no other option than to bring together a group of hunters to train. I loved the main character, Anala, a vampire struggling with her humanity who hunts other vampires. She has such a strong personality and doesn't take crap from anyone! I actually ended up having a dream last night about the book, which never happens, where I was Anala out hunting, that's how much this book stuck with me! (or maybe I was just really tired after reading?)

I love reading a book about vampires where the author gives you a new explanation for how vampires came into existence. For me it always gives the story that little extra, whenever there is a history to the plot, I just eat it up! I could not stop reading, each character the author created has such a unique and, for the most part, like-able personality! Almost making you want to be apart of the group of hunters. Jourdyn Kelly, the author, leaves you hanging at the end with a cliff hanger leaving you wanting more!! Luckily Destined to Love the second book in the series is already out and ready for me to read!!

Synopsis: This Halloween, prepare to be haunted by a kiss…

Midnight Kiss is a limited edition collection of four BRAND NEW, NEVER RELEASED novellas, all set in New Orleans on Halloween night.

AFTER MIDNIGHT by Sarra Cannon
From the outside, Becca Goldberg looks like any normal freshman girl at Tulane, but she’s been keeping a terrible secret. She’s really Allison Moore—a young witch from Peachville hiding out from an evil coven of witches known as the Order of Shadows. She thinks she is safe until an unexpected accident occurs. Now, she only has until midnight on Halloween until her identity is discovered.

She must turn to the hottest, most elusive guy on campus for help. Will he help save her? Or will her life come crashing down around her after midnight?

THE MIDNIGHT TEST by Juliana Haygert
Being the weakest witch of her generation, nineteen-year-old Hazel is convinced she’s supposed to live a normal, human life—except for the occasional ghost hunting. When Hazel moves to New Orleans, the most powerful witch coven in the world grants her a chance to join them, but only if she passes a dangerous test on Halloween night. Everything is going fine until mysterious Sean steps in Hazel’s way, putting her entire test at risk.

Will she be able to ace the test and keep them both alive at the same time?

SEDUCTION’S KISS by Alyssa Rose Ivy
Never agree to a road trip to New Orleans with your roommate. At least not when your roommate is dragging you along while she reconnects with an ex boyfriend. Possible consequences of failing to take my advice:

1) Unknowingly going out with a vampire stripper.
2) Getting kidnapped by said vampire’s nest mates.
3) Falling head over heels for your winged hero.

Believe it or not number 3 is the worst one, especially when no one believes you that he exists.

KISS OF AWAKENING by Jennifer Snyder
With one kiss, everything will change…

When a mysterious letter arrives from her estranged mother, twenty-one year old Kenna Blake and her best friend, Bree, make a trip to New Orleans hoping for a little Halloween fun and to get away. The mystifying Crescent City has something else in store for her though.

Cryptic messages, a hot tour guide, and a new sense Kenna can’t seem to explain are just the beginning of this eye opening trip. Will Kenna accept what awakens with in her or will she crumble under its reality?

My Thoughts: Loved this collection paranormal novellas what a great group of authors to put into one book. I loved that each story had the Midnight Cauldron in New Orleans on Halloween incorporated to tie them together. I definitely downloaded the books tied to each story. Each story was uniquely amazing and addicting! I definitely recommend this book as a must read this October to get you in the Halloween mood.

The story I loved the most was Seductions Kiss by Alyssa Rose Ivy. Ever since I read The Crescent Chronicles I have loved Owen, don't get me wrong Levi is great but I have been hoping for more story on Owen.  I am so glad we get a little piece into his life and I really hope there will be more for Daisy and Owen in the near future. Loved this short story just wish there was more of Owen!

I also really enjoyed was After Midnight, Allison and John are hard not to love. I was so happy to read the very end definitely making me giddy!! I want to know more about this world and hope there will be more of Allison and John to come!

Now don't get me wrong I have only great things to say about each story even if I picked my favorites. Each story grabbed me in it's own way and I cannot wait to read more by each author!!

Synopsis: From Scarlett Dawn comes the stunning, sexy, sensual, surprising, spell-binding conclusion to the bestselling first Forever Evermore trilogy.

Queen Shifter, Lily Ruckler, has found solace in brutal warfare. Her bloodied fists and bared fangs fill the holes left in her memory, the blank spaces that leave her soul aching and empty. Her only pleasure is in blood; her only salvation is the relationship she has with her infant child, the baby of unknown origins who brings her solace and stability.

When Elder Harcourt summons Lily and her protector Antonio back to the United States, Lily thinks nothing unusual about the change of location. But a standard reconnaissance mission leaves her trapped inside King Zeller’s private quarters, and at his mercy. Surprise attraction rapidly turns to a battle of wills and an intense power struggle that leaves no clear victor but plenty of resentment.

They are not allowed to nurse their wounds. In order to win the war against the Commoners, the King Vampire and Queen Shifter must work together. It should be easy. The war is turning, the battle is deadly, and both Lily and Ezra love the cold cleanliness of combat. But their chance meeting has led to more than an unlikely alliance. Secrets have a way of surfacing, especially on a torn-up battlefield, and Lily and Ezra are about to re-learn all they cannot remember. If they can’t control their emotions and responses, it will be to their own ruin and the destruction of everything around them.

Synopsis and Review of
King Hall (Book 1) / King Cave (book 2)

My Thoughts: There is just no going back after reading Scarlett Dawn's work; she is a magician when it comes to writing. I honestly have a hard time explaining how amazing this series is, the range of emotions I experienced reading this book went from empathy to loathing to extreme joy to extremely heated to laugh out loud surprised back to extreme joy to I need more about these amazing characters I have fallen in love with.  I currently am in the middle of a book hangover, I read this book in 24 hours because once I started there was no stopping. I feel like if I pick up another book right now that nothing can compare to the amazingness of what I just read, of course I am being a little over dramatic right now but that is what this story does to you. I would definitely say, for me, this is on my list of top 5 favorite fantasy series I think everyone should read.

After the heartbreaking ending to King Cave I was distraught having to wait for King Tomb to come out, eating up every little surprise excerpt Scarlett Dawn posted to get me by while I waited. Thank goodness this book jumps right in to the juicy goodness of Lily and Ezra's forgotten love affair. I was able to fall in love all over again with their relationship, even if it starts out a bit rocky to say the least. I loved reading as they both slowly began to put the pieces together and that moment when Lily sees Ezra holding Isa was to die for. Everything was perfectly put together keeping me on my toes the whole time, and unable to stop reading. Another great part is the surprise love affair that left me shocked and uncontrollably laughing out loud with my husband looking at me like I was crazy. Amazing job by Scarlet Dawn I could not have asked for more out of this story, I just hope that throughout the rest of the Forever Evermore Series these characters I have grown to love will continue to make an appearance. The next book Chosen Thief, Book 4 in the Forever Evermore Series is expected to release Mach 8th, 2015.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Scarlett Dawn is the author of the Forever Evermore new adult fantasy series, which include King Hall and King Cave. She lives in the Midwest, where she loves to 'people watch' and daydream. She adores her music loud and her fries covered in cheese. She is drawn to all things quirky and off-beat. She believes there are no boundaries for an imaginative soul. Her love of the written word started at an early age, when her grandmother would take her to bookstores every weekend. Dreams came alive within the books she found there, and now, she is thrilled to share her stories with others who have fallen under the spell of taking fantastical journeys.

Their worst fears now a chilling reality, Sydney and Adrian face their darkest hour in this heart-pounding fifth installment in the New York Times bestselling Bloodlines series, where all bets are off.

My Thoughts:  Wow just wow!! What an ending in more ways than one!! I need more, I could not set this book down and finished it in less than two days!! All I can think about is what is going to happen next and now we have to wait until next February (tear) for the next book The Ruby Circle. Richelle Mead did an AMAZING job getting my heart pumping, there was nonstop action with the gang trying to break Sydney out of re-education after suffering in there for months!! Yes months, four to be exact! I was stunned when I finally found out how long she had been missing!!! Poor Sydney, but thankfully our girl is a fighter and stays as strong as possible throughout the ordeal while making a couple friends along the way.

Once the plot got intense it stayed intense until the very last second leaving me reeling in what I just read. I felt like my heart would burst with joy for Sydney and Adrian. I don't want to give too much away, but again, just wow the details of there getaway were so vivid I felt like I was Jill watching the romantic and stressful escapade of Adrian and Sydney. I could not be happier for them but things won't be settling down for them quite yet! I have a good feeling Dimitri and Rose will be making a big appearance in the next book. I cannot wait!!!

My Thoughts: I love Sydney and Adrian! This book just flies by, even for the third time. There are vampires and witches and even a cute little dragon shows up. I just love reading about everything Sydney has to overcome in her life, and there is a lot, all while fighting her feelings for Adrian. Adrian continues make passing comments about how amazing she is and how much he loves her. These characters have really grown on me, first with The Vampire Academy series and now with this spin off Bloodlines series. I could read this series over and over and not get board, so much happens throughout this book especially for Adrian and Sydney. Every stolen moment they have when Sydney lets her guard down gets my heart pumping! I just love everything about this book!!

The Book of Life (All Souls Trilogy #3)

Deborah Harkness Website
Book Details: Written by New York Times Best Seller Deborah Harkness. Published July 15th, 2014. 576 Pages. You can purchase a hard copy or digital copy at Amazon

Official Synopsis: After traveling through time in Shadow of Night, the second book in Deborah Harkness’s enchanting series, historian and witch Diana Bishop and vampire scientist Matthew Clairmont return to the present to face new crises and old enemies. At Matthew’s ancestral home at Sept-Tours, they reunite with the cast of characters from A Discovery of Witches—with one significant exception. But the real threat to their future has yet to be revealed, and when it is, the search for Ashmole 782 and its missing pages takes on even more urgency.

In the trilogy’s final volume, Harkness deepens her themes of power and passion, family and caring, past deeds and their present consequences. In ancestral homes and university laboratories, using ancient knowledge and modern science, from the hills of the Auvergne to the palaces of Venice and beyond, the couple at last learn what the witches discovered so many centuries ago.

My Thoughts: A magnificent ending to a phenomenal series! In the finale to The All Souls Trilogy Diana and Mathew have traveled back home from 1590 to discover things are not how they left them.  With a death and birth of family loved ones Diana has a hard time accepting what has happened since they've been gone. Diana and Mathew come back changed for the better with Diana finally in control of her powers. With so much still to uncover before the little ones are born the whole family comes together; vampire, witches and daemons, to help find the book of life and its missing pages.

I just absolutely loved this book and thought that Deborah Harkness did an amazing job tying everything up. I was also very excited to see a couple characters from 1590, who Mathew and Diana had to leave behind, show back up to help finish the story off. I definitely could not put this book down and felt like I was apart of the story the whole time I was reading. I was very surprised and excited to see that the author also left the series open for more to come!! I cannot wait to see if she does anything more with the series!! I just cannot express how much I love everything about these books and the world Deborah Harkness has created. I would recommend this whole series to anyone who enjoys a great story!

Shadow of Night (All Souls Trilogy # 2)

Deborah Harkness Website

Book Details: Written by New York Times Best Seller Deborah Harkness. Published July 10th, 2012. 584 Pages. You can purchase a hard copy or digital copy at Amazon.

Official Synopsis: A Discovery of Witches introduced Diana Bishop, Oxford scholar and reluctant witch, and the handsome geneticist and vampire Matthew Clairmont; together they found themselves at the center of a supernatural battle over an enchanted manuscript known as Ashmole 782. Drawn to one another despite longstanding taboos, and in pursuit of Diana’s spellbound powers, the two embark upon a time-walking journey.

Book Two of the All Souls Trilogy plunges Diana and Matthew into  Elizabethan London, a world of spies and subterfuge, and a coterie of Matthew’s old friends, the mysterious School of Night.  The mission is to locate a witch to tutor  Diana and to find traces of Ashmole 782, but as the net of Matthew’s past tightens around them they embark on a very different journey, one that takes them into heart of the 1,500 year old vampire’s shadowed history and secrets. For Matthew Clairmont, time travel is no simple matter; nor is Diana’s search for the key to understanding her legacy.

Shadow of Night brings us a rich and splendid tapestry of alchemy, magic, and history, taking us through the loop of time to deliver a deepening love story, a tale of blood, passion, and the knotted strands of the past.

My Thoughts: Again simply amazing, even though there is nothing simple about this book. The world the Deborah Harkness has created is a masterpiece of detailed information and history. I could not put this book down and I didn't want to. One of my very favorite series!! I just want more and I am counting down the days until The Book of Life is released next week!! There are so many amazing pieces to this puzzle I couldn't believe how much I had forgotten since I last read this book. So much happens it's impossible to write a synopsis that would do this book justice, so for this review I used the official one. Vampires, witches and daemons all working together and against each other all at once. Both Diana and Mathew get a reunion with family long gone but never forgotten, heartbreaking and heartwarming simultaneously. I just wish I could think of more to say the would accurately portray the genius of this story and all it's parts. Love! Love! Love!!!

A Discovery of Witches (All Souls Trilogy #1)

Deborah Harkness Website
Book Details: Written by New York Times Best Seller Deborah Harkness. Published February 8th, 2011. 579 Pages. You can purchase a hard copy or digital copy at Amazon

Synopsis of A Discovery of Withes:  Diana Bishop, our leading lady in The All Souls Trilogy, hails from a long line of powerful Bishop witches. While studying in the Bodleian Library for an upcoming lecture she comes across an enchanted manuscript, Ashmole 782. After a life worth of denying her witchey descent and anything paranormal the last thing she expected was it to come looking for her.  Diana has caught the attention of the magical community; witches, vampires and daemons, and there is no going back. That's when she meets the mysterious and brilliant vampire, Matthew De Clermont; changing her life forever.

The more time Diana and Mathew spend together the harder they fight against their true feelings for each other. Mathew becomes very protective of Diana and realizes the growing trouble brewing in Oxford and takes her away to his family home in France. Diana is unaware of The Congregation, devised of three vampires, three witches and three daemons, who rule over all creatures. One of the main rules is that species are not to mix with each other and that includes Mathew and Diana's growing relationship.  Once Diana discovers these rules her feelings for Mathew are too far past the point of turning back. Now under the protection of the De Clermont family Diana has to win the approval of Mathew's mother Ysabeau, who is not very happy about their forbidden relationship and the trouble it is sure to cause the family.

Diana is taken from the safety of the De Clermonts by a witch of The Congregation and tortured in order to reveal the secrets of her power. While she is being tortured the ghosts of her mother and father appear to talk her through the pain and help her remember a story from her childhood. After Mathew realizes he cannot protect her from her own people they leave for her aunt's, Sara and Emily, house in Madison, New York. There they work on harnessing all of Diana's powers and controlling them. A discovery is made involving Diana's blood that could change the world of creatures forever.  Diana and Mathew travel back to Mathew's past after another attack on their lives. Hoping it will give them the time they need to find Ashmole 782 and a witch who can help Diana with her magic.

My Thoughts: I am just in awe of the history and detailed information that's just pours from Deborah Harkness. This book is beyond amazing and has me just as captivated the second time around. I could not set it down for a second, any extra moment I had I spent reading more. The connection between Diana and Matthew is electric, they are my most favorite fictional couple out of any book I have read. It is so easy to visualize everything that is happening and where thanks to the authors attention to detail. The relationships between all the characters are so lively it feels like you are there with them watching it all happen. I just absolutely love this series so far and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a great story!!

The Oracle (The Arcadian Series Book 2)

T. L. Coulter Blog
Book Details: Written by T. L. Coulter. Published June 2nd, 2014. 310 Pages. You can purchase a hard copy or digital copy at Amazon.

Synopsis of The Oracle:  At the end of The Key Kailee and Audric are presumed dead until the last moment when Kailee sends a message to Rek in his sleep.  Malik, Audric and Rek's uncle, has taken them captive as part of his evil plan. Rek is determined to find Kailee and his brother before it is too late. With the help of a sorcerer he scours the realms for any sign of them, but to no avail.

Kailee and Audric wake up in their separate cells after being heavily drugged. Knowing that they have each other in this crazy situation is enough for them both to stay hopeful. They quickly realize that these cells work as a cloaking device on their powers making them unusable. Working together they decide that Audric must be the one to send a message to his brother for help during their few minutes a day outside because they more closely watch Kailee's powers.

After a shocking revelation from Kailee's aunt and uncle Rek doesn't know whether to destroy something or be happy. Trying not to focus on this new discovery he falls asleep and is visited by his mother in his dreams, who tells him he must look for the oracle in order to find Kailee and Audric. He quickly makes plans to visit the realm of the vampires and werewolves, the most likely place for the oracle to be hiding.  With the help of Astrid and Gabe and a few new characters, the head vampire Ryan and soon-to-be head werewolf Tasha, they quickly find the oracle, Cass, and explain the importance of her help. While visiting this realm Rek receives a message from his brother informing him they are being held in the demon realm.

They all return to the realm of Arcadia and plan their descent into the demon realm to save Audric and Kailee. The oracle has pin pointed their exact location and the rescue mission but is being left behind for her own safety. Rek is the first to find Audric and Kailee, luckily still alive, and goes to capture his uncle Malik next. The rescue mission turned out a little too easy.  Little do they know but Malik has plenty of tricks still up his sleeve with lots of surprises yet to be revealed, leaving you hanging at the edge of your seat.

My Thoughts:  Another crazy ending leaving you with one surprise after the next. So much happens in this book and all the different love connections are addicting! I cannot wait to find out what happens next!! The author knows how to keep you wanting more with these endings!! Very entertaining and I could not set the book down until I was finished. I loved the new characters introduced, they all have such great chemistry together it's easy to feel like you could be a part of their group. You get to travel to a new realm and get a close look at the vampires and werewolves. Astrid and Gabe are still my favorite characters and I hope everything works out for them after all the twists in this book. Looking forward to the next book in The Arcadian Series!

Synopsis of City of Lost Souls: With Jace and Sebastian's body going missing at the very end of the last book, City of Fallen Angels, Clary is devastated. The Clave, the shadowhunter government entity, are more concerned about what Sebastian is capable of than Jace's safety. Clary takes maters into her own hands with the help of Alec, Isabelle and Simon and go to the faerie queen for help. She promises to help them with one favor in return, Clary must steal faerie enchanted rings and return them to her.

Clary is so desperate she sneaks into the New York Institutes library while the clave is in an official meeting to remove the rings from their glass case. While there, the two people she least expected to see show up, Sebastian and Jace. They leave just as quickly as they came but it was enough for Clary to see them acting like best friends. Clary is furious and tells Isabelle and Alec what she saw, shocking them both.

Soon after Jace and Sebastian show up at Clary's house to take her with them nearly killing Luke in the process. This leads to Jocelyn taking Clary into hiding at Magnus's place. Clary doesn't know what to do and sneaks out of Magnus's to meet Simon in the middle of the night. She confides in him that she is going to leave with Jace when he shows up next and gives Simon one of the faerie rings. The rings allow them to communicate through their thoughts no mater where they are. Simon is not happy but no one can stop Clary once her mind is set. Shortly after she returns home Jace shows up to take her with them.

Clary quickly realizes that the bond that Lilith created between Jace and Sebastian is stronger than ever and Sebastian is in charge. Anything he wants Jace wants also. This is the most time Clary has ever spent with her brother and it brings up some confusing emotions. Clary stays in communication with Simon when she can while trying to convince Sebastian he can trust her everything seems to be going fairly well until Clary realizes his true intentions.

While Clary is gone Simon, Isabelle, Alec and Magnus brainstorm ways to break the bond that connects Sebastian and Jace's life force. First by summoning a demon, which doesn't turn out too well, to deciding to summon the angel Razeil. After some time Simon is finally able to reach Clary again to form a plan of attack  to stop Sebastian before it is too late.

My Thoughts:  Simon our hero! He saved the day in this one with his Mark of Cain and bravery.  Honestly an amazing book but out of all of them my least favorite. Mainly because it was so hard to read about Jace being in that zombie like state and when there wasn't much Clary could do. It was so frustrating I just wanted them to break the connection as soon as possible and get Jace back. Sebastian is just a slimy guy it's hard to believe he is Clary's brother. I did love that Simon, my fav, and Isabelle get closer than ever!  Not only was it a bumpy road for Jace and Clary but also Alec and Magnus it was irritating watching everyone's relationships kinda fall apart in front of your eyes. On top of that you have Luke struggling for his life part of the time making me stressed and  a little nervous.  Even with all the negative going on I still could not put this book down. It was a love hate relationship for this one.
